Payments company Planet has today announced it’s working with Sea Containers London, a lifestyle hotel based on the Southbank in London, to power innovative payment services that improve the guest and diner experience. Sea Containers London has started to welcome guests back having re-opened its hotel, riverside restaurant, ground floor award-winning bar and a rooftop bar overlooking London’s skyline in May 2021. In readiness for this, they required a single payment solution capable of providing all payment methods which could meet the demand for safer, contactless payments.

 

They needed the ability to process payment types for both domestic and international guests, including support for all major card schemes, Alipay and WeChat Pay digital wallets, and Savvy gift card acceptance. In addition, they will also give their guests and diners the option to pay in their own currency. This makes the payment process simpler and in-line with their vision to deliver an exceptional dining and guest experience. 

 

Guest experience is everything for us. As a lifestyle London hotel, we needed to partner with a payments company that understood our target guest experience; one that could help us re-imagine the guest journey. They also needed to move fast to help us deliver greater convenience, simplicity and more payment options. Having these services all on one stylish android terminal, fully integrated to the systems that run the business matches the experience we want to deliver to guests, allowing us to handle higher volumes while reducing friction.

The Planet solution is fully integrated to the Oracle OPERA Property Management System. This ensures accurate billing and back-end reconciliation. Restaurant guests benefit from enhanced table service with Pay at Table functionality, and have the ability to split the bill and add custom tips. These features keep waiting times to a minimum and improve the guest experience.

 

Sea Containers London will also offer guests a smooth order and payment experience all powered from a smartphone. App ordering services via third-party digital partners will be made available for guests use, and are fully integrated to the POS (Point Of Sale) system and Planet solution. This payment experience maintains social distancing and limits interaction between guests and staff.

 

Sea Containers London will also implement a simple Pay by Link solution, again integrated to the Oracle OPERA system, which saves time and administrative effort for staff at the hotel reception.
