A proud history in Retail

 

Le Coq Sportif was founded in the late 19th century as a French sportswear brand.

 

Today, the iconic brand is strongly linked to sporting events worldwide including the Tour de France, where over many years the greatest champions of the sport have proudly worn Le Coq Sportif designed jerseys.

It is also one of the sponsors of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

 

Le Coq Sportif entered the Spanish Retail market in 2012 where it currently operates three stores across the country.

 

Bringing payments together onto one platform

 

For Le Coq Sportif in Spain, taking payments was the tedious part of their selling experience.

 

They were restricted by the traditional payment terminals provided by the banks, which only allowed them to accept payments with the cards the banks accepted. This severely limited the choice of payment methods for customers – not a great payment moment.

 

With tourism gradually returning to Spain, Le Coq Sportif’s stores need to be able to accept a wider range of payment methods such as digital wallets, including Alipay and WeChat Pay.

 

Le Coq Sportif was faced with the challenge of how best to meet their shoppers’ requirements, but in a way that would save them time and money, and drive in-store efficiencies.

 

They also wanted to encourage more shoppers to visit the Le Coq Sportif store.

A better payments experience for all customers

 

For Le Coq Sportif, the answer was to extend their Retail payment choices and integrate them all to a single device. This needed to include all popular cards, digital wallets, VAT refunds and the ability to let tourists pay using their own currency.
