  • European Retailers can offer eligible shoppers a faster, smoother, way to process their payment, and claim back VAT on their purchases at the same time

  • Simplified, digital process on a new device specifically designed for the retail sector, including support for digital wallets and other contactless, safe payment services

Payments company Planet, has again enhanced its European Retail offering to support digital VAT refunds, digital and card payment acceptance and currency conversion services all processed on a single android device. With safer, digital payment services now in high demand, shoppers benefit from the flexibility and choice to pay in the method that they want to use. They can also quickly and easily manage everything at the time of purchase including the VAT refunds process, which ensures a simplified service at the till. Merchants benefit by consolidating all their payment services into one smart mobile terminal which saves time with customers, and removes the cost to support additional hardware.

 

Consumers returning to Retail stores across Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal and France will be able to benefit from the enhanced service, as European lockdown restrictions show signs of lifting. Shoppers will have the opportunity to use safer, digital payment methods, including high value contactless and digital wallets, such as Alipay and WeChat Pay. The Android mobile device which supports these payment services, also includes a built-in scanning camera for capturing the shoppers passport image. This speeds up data capture during the sales process and saves unnecessary expense on additional hardware. Depending on the transaction country, the terminal will also print the Tax Free forms directly from the terminal, including the amount, products purchased and the shoppers details.  This offers a simplified digital process, where Shoppers will receive their refund simply by scanning their passport and boarding pass at a Planet kiosk or desk at the airport, saving them valuable time.
