Planet Payment Inc. is a multi-currency payment processor whose customer base includes International Banks, Payment Processors and Merchants. As a result of our dynamic growth we are looking to hire an experienced UNIX System Administrator for our New Castle, Delaware office.
The UNIX System Administrator’s role is to provide support and maintenance for all UNIX systems, servers, and related components to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure UNIX system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for UNIX systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.
Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement UNIX systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
Install and configure UNIX systems and software.
Implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure UNIX system security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations.
Perform standard configuration, management, and maintenance tasks for related file systems, input/output systems, networking, clustering, storage, and applications.
Perform and test system configuration backups and restores to ensure system recovery from error or outage.
Perform and test data backups and restores, in conjunction with the storage team where present, to ensure full data retrieval.
Review and deploy UNIX system releases and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices.
Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on all UNIX systems.
Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
Monitor, test, and tune system performance; preserve and provide system log files as needed.
Recommend and execute modifications to UNIX systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Conduct research on UNIX-related hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts.
Remain informed on regulations, trends, and issues, including current and emerging technologies and best practices; advise, counsel, and educate executive and management teams on their relative importance.
Ensure UNIX-based systems comply with policies, standards, licensing agreements, configuration guidelines, and best-practices for maintaining regulatory compliance.
Ensure secure user access and role validation processes.
Perform UNIX server/database transaction and security audits leading to identification and mitigation of security threats to enterprise data. Recommend and implement changes where necessary.
Create required reports in response to business user needs.
Create UNIX shell scripts.
Develop, document, and maintain UNIX system training materials and systems documentation for educating end users and new IT staff.
Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Requirements/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or comparable education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years UNIX administration experience in an enterprise environment.
Specific knowledge of Solaris required.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining UNIX servers and clusters.
Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
Working technical knowledge of coding using Perl, CGI, C, shell scripting
Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols and database administration.

Planet Payment Inc. is a multi-currency payment processor providing services to international Banks, Processors and Merchants to accept, process, and reconcile credit card transactions in multiple currencies. Due to our dynamic growth we are currently seeking an Operations Analyst for immediate hire at our Long Beach (Long Island), New York office.
This position will be key team member in the Business Operations department. We provide processing services to banks and merchants globally and the responsibilities of this position includes the daily “checks & balances” of our acquiring environment which involves monitoring settlement and clearing, transaction processing problem analysis and resolution, report/data analytics (using Excel), dealing with external clients/vendors and the ongoing maintenance of departmental process and procedural documentation.
Responsibilities:
Ensure our global client’s business reconciles and runs efficiently on a day-to-day basis
Problem identification, analysis and resolution
Data analytics and report generation using Excel
Ensure client service levels are met including such items as file and report delivery
Manage content of the Operations “Runbook” and other procedural documents with the Technical Writer
Ensure all monitoring procedures and other guidelines are followed
Manage ticket tracking software, including communication regarding usage and ticket reporting
Liaise with other teams such as Project Management
Ensure appropriate Problem Management & Resolution processes are in place to ensure a high level of service
Requirements/Experience:
Must have a minimum of 3 years in a credit card processing operations environment within a bank card Acquiring environment
