JourneyPay Launches Planet Payment's BuyVoice^TM Mobile Commerce Solution

Journeypay Limited, a transport payments specialist, Lloyds TSB Cardnet, a leading acquiring institution in the United Kingdom and the card acceptance service of Lloyds TSB, and Planet Payment, a leading international multi-currency payment and data processor, announced today the nationwide launch of a powerful mobile commerce solution for the transport sector.

The service, called Journeypay BuyVoice, is a fully managed, turnkey mobile payment application which allows taxi drivers to accept Visa®, MasterCard®, Maestro® and American Express® cards for payment of fares using only their mobile phones. BuyVoice was architected to ensure speed and usability – a driver simply calls the BuyVoice card acceptance number and a user-friendly interactive voice-response system prompts a driver to either speak or manually enter all of the information necessary to process the credit card transaction.

Journeypay BuyVoice was trialed in January of 2007 at London’s Heathrow Airport, in conjunction with Lloyds TSB Cardnet, which is providing the credit card acquiring services in support of the Journeypay BuyVoice initiative. Journeypay launched the service in August with Mantax Radio Taxis Ltd., the largest taxi operator in Manchester, with Mantax offering Journeypay BuyVoice to its fleet drivers, a significant number of whom immediately signed-up for service. As a result of the positive driver response, Journeypay has now embarked on a nationwide marketing and sales campaign announcing the availability of Journeypay BuyVoice to taxi operators and drivers across the United Kingdom.

With this service, passengers using foreign-issued MasterCard® or Visa® cards can enjoy the convenience of paying for their fare in their home currency, at an exchange rate that is guaranteed to be better than the effective rate that the passenger’s card provider would have used to convert the transaction.
